The Domain Name System

The Domain Name System (DNS) is a hierarchical naming system for computers, services, or any resource participating in the Internet. It associates various information with domain names assigned to such participants. Most importantly, it translates domain names meaningful to humans into the numerical (binary) identifiers associated with networking equipment for the purpose of locating and addressing these devices world-wide. An often used analogy to explain the Domain Name System is that it serves as the "phone book" for the Internet by translating human-friendly computer hostnames into IP addresses.

Bandwidth

Bandwidth in fact means sum of total data, usually measured at MB or GB, which can be downloaded from or uploaded at specific website during specific period.

That all, of course, includes internet, which interfaces depends more or less on cables, which are conducted at concrete places. So is concerned size of every interface, which designates, what of transmission bandwidth is available. Transmission bandwidth is measured by bits, they are grouped into bytes which form words, text and information, which are carried between yours computer and the internet.

Network Hub

In general, a hub is the central part of a wheel where the spokes come together. The term is familiar to frequent fliers who travel through airport "hubs" to make connecting flights from one point to another. In data communications, a hub is a place of convergence where data arrives from one or more directions and is forwarded out in one or more other directions. A hub usually includes a switch of some kind.

Router

A router may create or maintain a table of the available routes and their conditions and use this information along with distance and cost algorithms to determine the best route for a given packet. Typically, a packet may travel through a number of network points with routers before arriving at its destination. Routing is a function associated with the Network layer (layer 3) in the standard model of network programming, the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) model. A layer-3 switch is a switch that can perform routing functions.

IP v4, IP v6

IP version 4 (IPv4) is the main version of the Internet Protocol. This version is currently used by almost all IP networks. An IP version 4 address is a 32-bit number that is typically written as four decimal numbers separated by periods. An example is "192.168.1.3".
